Volvo To Stop Using Leather In Interior

Volvo has decided to stop the usage of leather in the car (EV) interiors by 2025. This decision of Volvo is a way to stand for animal welfare as many animals are killed on daily basis for the manufacturing of leather.

So what will be the alternative for leather? Volvo says that by 2025, the 25 percent of the EV interiors will use recycled and a bio-based material. Volvo has created a new material named as 'Nordico'. It is made with the combination of textiles from recycled PET bottles, bio-attributed material from sustainable forests in Sweden and Finland, and corks recycled from the wine industry.

Volvo C40 Recharge

The first model to get leather free interior will be C40 Recharge. Volvo says that the wool blend option will continue to be offered as well. Volvo says, they are working actively on finding high-quality and sustainable source for many material currently used in car industries.
